| Summary, etc. | Present investigations were conducted at the vegetable research farm, <br/>Department of Olericulture, College of Horticulture, Vellanikkara, during <br/>September to December 1995 and May to August 1996 to study the source <br/>efficiency relations of different organic manures on quality, productivity and shelf <br/>life of okra. The experiment comprised of sixteen treatments and were laid out in a <br/>randomised block design. <br/>Study revealed that plant height at first harvest was increased by poultry <br/>manure at highest dose (100 kg N ha"), Relative Growth Rate was higher for <br/>groundnut cake equivalent to 75 kg N ha-I and 100 kg N ha-I during 30-45 DAS <br/>and during 45-60 DAS the maximum RGR was for FYM at 75 kg N ha-I. During <br/>30-45 DAS poultry manure at 75 kg N ha-I recorded maximum Net Assimilation <br/>Rate. <br/>Yield per plot was increased with groundnut cake equivalent to 75 kg N <br/>ha-I and yield per plant was maximum for poultry manure at 75 kg N ha". <br/>Mucilage content of fruit was maximum for poultry manure at 100 kg N <br/>ha". Starch content was maximum for vermicompost at 75 kg N ha", when <br/>organoleptic test was conducted the maximum score was obtained for FY M <br/>equivalent to 75 kg N ha-I. <br/>Percentage of unmarketable fruits showed difference for different <br/>treatments and percentage of unmarketable fruits was maximum for control on fifth <br/>day of storage. <br/> <br/> <br/> <br/>Seed yield per plant was maximum for groundnut cake equivalent to 7S <br/>kg N ha-I and number of seeds were maximum for poultry manure equivalent to 7S <br/>kg N ha-I, Germination percentage was maximum for poultry manure equivalent to <br/>50 and 75 kg N ha-I, <br/>Soil properties like organic carbon and total nitrogen and pH did not show <br/>significant difference by the addition of organic fertilizers, <br/>Jassid incidence increased by higher dose of groundnut cake and poultry <br/>manure, Mosaic incidence increased by higher levels of nitrogen, <br/>Maximum net return was obtained from plots receiving higher dose (100 <br/>kg N ha") of poultry manure, <br/> |
